It’s not the name of a new boy band but a combination of Funzi and Bodo, two islands in Kenya.

Ashley Peatfield told us the story of how a cut-price holiday to the area with his wife changed their lives when they saw the poverty and disease which beset the lives of the local people. Rather than feel sorry for them, they did something. They set up the Funzibodo charity. They’ve fund-raised and been back numerous times. Now there are two clinics, a medical laboratory, two birthing rooms, a disability unit for children, two schools with libraries, a farm school where crops are grown, interest-free loans to start businesses and a seaweed farm. The next plan is to build a de-salination plant. Thanks to Ashley and his wife the lives of the people who live there have changed dramatically.
