Long Journey for Pop Star’s Violin

Pop star Sam Smith’s signed violin is in North Yorkshire on its way to a new life in Nepal. Sam kindly donated it to an instrument amnesty organised in London in 2015 by the Ronnie Scott Foundation. This summer the Foundation gave it to Harrogate Brigantes Rotary Club, along with 24 other instruments. The instruments will soon be shipped to MusicArt, a charity in Nepal which needs donated instruments to help teach disadvantaged children to play.
All of this came about due to our Kids Aloud 2019 project, which bought a choir of 40 children from Nepal to perform with over 500 local children at Harrogate’s Royal Hall in March.
We are now appealing for more instruments in an amnesty of our own and for donations to help towards the costs of getting them all to Nepal. Please get in touch if you feel you can help us in any way.
