Susan Rogers came to talk to us about North Star, a Rotary membership expansion project which started last year.
It’s no secret that, although some Rotary clubs continue to thrive, others are facing a decline in membership and North Star points to different ways in which they can grow and develop.
There are two basic ideas. The first is to develop different kinds of membership. This could be corporate membership of an existing club which enables local companies to develop their corporate social responsibility under the Rotary banner or even direct membership of a virtual club which meets online to exchange ideas and then takes action on a community initiative – and there are many other new, exciting kinds of membership you can choose from.
The second idea is the importance of projects. The kind of new members we are particularly seeking will typically be in the 30-50 age range, already leading busy lives who haven’t time to come to a weekly meeting but want to do something to support and enhance the local community.
If you’re interested in exploring these ideas, do get in touch with us via our website. We’d love to hear from you.
